Insightful thoughts on ministry that makes the biggest impact for God’s Kingdom.
I woke this morning to the following highlighted on my Kindle app. I am not sure how it happened, but I believe God is trying to tell me something.
Lysa TerKeurst-What Happens When Women Walk in Faith:
“All along this ministry journey, I kept thinking God was looking for me to do great things for Him. But now I am convinced the Lord isn’t looking for a bestselling author or an arena speaker. He isn’t looking for people to dance in the limelight. He is looking for those souls who are willing to press close to His heart and hear the cries of the forgotten. He wants us to do great things with Him to reach the “least of these.” Ministry that makes the biggest impact is that which is done in the secret places, the hard stuff that is void of glory but full of guts.” (pg.181)

Paul, to the believers at Corinthians, and to all of mankind:
If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing.
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.
Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
Love never fails.
But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. For we know in part and we prophesy in part, but when completeness comes, what is in part disappears.
When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put the ways of childhood behind me. For now we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.
And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.
Spending time this morning thinking about the blessing of friends in my life, including those of the four-legged, furry variety. I’ve compiled a list of my favorite quotes and sayings about friends and friendships and thought I’d share it, if only for my own benefit. It is my hope that these brings a smile to your heart as you remember a special friend.
May God give you…For every storm a rainbow, for every tear a smile,
for every care a promise and a blessing in each trial.
For every problem life sends, a faithful friend to share,
for every sigh a sweet song and an answer for each prayer.
Walking with a friend in the dark is better than walking alone in the light. ~Helen Keller
What is a friend? A single soul dwelling in two bodies. ~Aristotle
Truly great friends are hard to find, difficult to leave and impossible to forget. ~G. Randolf
